When edits are made to a PDF document, most tools struggle to exactly match the font characteristics present in the original document, and edited areas can be identified by closely examining the fonts. While this is often impossible for the human eye, Inscribe is able to detect these inconsistencies by examining the font data attached to each piece of text in the document.

The Fonts signal will appear in the Fraudulent Signals box whenever there are words in a document made up of characters that have different font characteristics. This includes font name, size, spacing, and more.

Clicking on the fonts signal will display an image like the one below. Here the inconsistent words are highlighted, with a unique colour for each set of font characteristics present.

When key details like amounts and dates have inconsistent font characteristics, it's a clear sign that the document has been tampered with.
