What is live image capture?
Live image capture is part of Inscribe’s Collect feature, which provides an easy and secure way for your customers to share documents with you. Live image capture is a new addition to Collect that allows you to specify that the document you’re requesting be provided in the form of a live photo taken from your end customer’s phone. This method of collecting images help minimize the odds that the images submitted have been doctored on their phone. It can be considered a gatekeeper for preventing a population of bad documents from being uploaded in the first place.
Is live image capture available to me?
This feature is currently in beta. This means that a select few customers are currently trialing it before it’s widely available.
If you are already using Collect, you can join the wait list for a free trial of this feature.
If you are not currently using Collect, we’d also love to arrange a beta trial for all Collect features, including live image capture!
In either case, please contact your Customer Success Manager who can arrange this for you and talk through what a beta trial would look like.
When should I use live image capture?
Live image capture should be enabled any time you want to collect image files from customers, outside of your typical IDV collection process. It can be enabled to reduce the risk that a document is not altered between the photo being taken, and being provided to you. It works best when your customer is only able to send physical document (pay stubs or checks), that require only a number of photos be taken.
How do I enable live image capture?
When you create a Collect session in the web app, you will see a toggle under each document request. Simply turn on the toggle to enable live image capture.
If you would like to enable live image capture through the API, please refer to the API docs provided as part of your beta onboarding.
Do I have to enable live image capture for all of my document requests?
No, you do not. Live image capture is specified for each document request. So you can have some sessions which require live image capture and some which do not. You can even have sessions which contain some documents requests with live image capture enabled, and some with it disabled.
What happens if a user doesn’t have a camera on their device
Inscribe will detect whether your customer is using their desktop or phone when they navigate to the Collect portal. If they’ve accessed the Collect session from their desktop, they will be presented with a QR code that will allow them to easily access the same session from their phone.
